今週分 노래를 紹介합니다.
[At the zoo]
當曲은 1967년 映畵 “卒業(the Graduate)”에 揷入될 豫定이었으나 不發되었다고 합니다. 그러나 San Francisco 動物園에서 戀人들(Dustin Hoffman扮 & Katharine Ross扮)이 걷는 場面은 映畵에 있다고 하는데 오래 前에 본 映畵라 그런지 제 記憶 속에는 없군요. ㅎㅎ
한편, 當曲에 나오는 여러 動物들은 人間群像들을 比喩한 것 같습니다.

The monkeys stand for honesty.
원숭이들은 正直함을 象徵하네
Giraffes are insincere.

Orangutangs are skeptical of changes in their cages
오랑우탕들은 自身들이 갇혀 있는 飼育鐵網의 變化에
“懷疑的이네(or 否定的이네)”
And the zookeeper is very fond of [rum]*2.
그리고 動物園 管理人은 럼酒를 좋아하네
Zebras are reactionaries,
얼룩말들은 反動分子들이고
[Anthelopes]*3 are missionaries.
羚羊(영양)들은 宣敎師들이네
Pidgeons plot in secrecy
비둘기들은 秘密 謀議를 하고
And hamsters turn on frequently.
햄스터들은 “頻繁히(or 자주)” 痲藥에 醉하네
What a gas you got to come and see
얼마나 즐거운가! 그대도 꼭 와서 봐야 되요
