In California, most of the old churches would have been mission (i.e. missionary) churches by the Spanish (i.e. Roman Catholic) Church to the indigenous population. They would have mission bells.->海外 傳敎의 目的으로 設立된 스페인系 옛가톨릭聖堂에서 全世界 다른 地域에 聖職者들을 派遣하는 것을 mission이라 했었읍니다. 따라서 이런 聖堂들에 있던 鐘들이 mission bells입니다.
