子曰。人而不仁。如禮何。人而不仁。如樂何。

자왈. 인이불인. 여례하. 인이불인. 여락하.

子曰：“人而不仁，如礼何？人而不仁，如乐何？”

子曰: 사람이 어질지 못하면 禮는 무슨 所用이 있는가? 사람이 어질지 못하면 音樂은 무슨 所用이 있는가?

 

英譯;

If a man is without benevolence, then of what use are the rites? If a man is without benevolence, then of what use is music?
