論語: 公冶長 05-25;

 

子曰。巧言令色足恭。左丘明恥之。丘亦恥之。匿怨而友其人。左丘明恥之。丘亦恥之。

자왈. 교언영색족공. 좌구명치지. 구역치지. 익원이우기인. 좌구명치지. 구역치지.

子曰：“巧言令色足恭，左丘明耻之，丘亦耻之。匿怨而友其人，左丘明耻之，丘亦耻之。”

 

飜譯 by sjc;

子曰。(남에게 비위를 맞추기 위하여) 말을 잘하고 顔色을 좋게 하고 발을 恭遜히 모으는 것을 左丘明은 부끄러워했다。孔子도 그것을 부끄러워했다。怨恨을 숨기고 (怨恨의 對象者인) 그 사람과 交際를 하는 것을 左丘明은 부끄러워했다。孔子도 그것을 부끄러워했다。

 

英譯;

The Master said, "Fine words, a flattering appearance, and excessive respect - Zuo Qiu Ming was ashamed of them. I also am ashamed of them. To conceal resentment against a person, and appear friendly with him - Zuo Qiu Ming was ashamed of such conduct. I also am ashamed of it."
