In Matthew Chapter Fourteen 
마태福音(복음) 14章(장)에서

When the disciples were in the ship in the midst of the sea 
使徒(사도)들이 바다 한 가운데에 있는 배에 있었는데

being tossed with waves for the wind was contrary,
逆風(역풍)을 만나 風浪(풍랑)에 시달렸다,

in the [fourth watch of the night]*2, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
밤 四更(사경)때, 예수님께서 물 위를 걸으시며 그들에게 다가가셨다.

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, 
그리고 使徒(사도)들이 그분께서 물 위를 걸어오시는 것을 보았을 때,

they were troubled saying “It is a spirit,” and they cried out for help. 
그들은 不安(불안)해하며 “幽靈(유령)이다”라고 말하고 도와달라고 큰소리로 외쳤다.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them saying, 
그러나 곧바로 예수님께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다,

“Be of good cheer, for it is I. Be not afraid.” 
“나다, 安心(안심)하여라. 겁내지 마라”

And Peter answered Him and said, 
그리고 베드로가 예수님께 對答(대답)했다,

“Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water.” 
“주님, 만약 당신께서 주님이시라면, 물 위에 서 계시는 당신께로 오라고 저에게 말씀해 주소서.”

And He said “Come.” And when Peter was come down out of the ship, 
그러자 그분께서 “오라”라고 말씀하셨다. 그리고 베드로가 배 밖으로 나와

he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 
물 위를 걸어 예수님께 가려고 했다.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and beginning to sink. 
그러나 바람이 세찬 것을 알고서, 그가 걱정을 하자 물에 빠지기 始作(시작)했다.

He cried saying “Lord, save me.” 
그는 외쳐 말했다 “주님, 살려 주소서”

Peter was doing fine as long as he had his eyes on Jesus. 
베드로는 예수님을 끊임없이 注視(주시)하는 동안에는 별 탈이 없었지만,

But when he looked away to the rolling waves about him, 
그의 둘레에 넘실대는 물결들을 쳐다보았을 때,

he began to sink and immediately, 
그는 물에 빠지기 始作(시작)하였고 그 卽時(즉시),

Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him, and said unto him.
예수님께서 손을 내미시어 그를 붙잡으시며 말씀하셨다.

“Oh, thou of little faith. Wherefore didst thou doubt?”
“오, 믿음이 弱(약)한 者(자)야, 왜 너는 疑心(의심)을 품었느냐?”

Being tossed in this life by disappointments and temptations, 
失望(실망)들과 誘惑(유혹)들로 시달리는

we are very much the same as this disciple.  
우리들은 이 使徒(사도)와 정말 똑같네.

If we want to walk with Jesus, 
우리가 예수님과 同行(동행)하기를 바란다면,

we must keep our eyes on Him, and not the pleasures of this world.
우리는 이 世上(세상)의 줄거움들이 아니라 그분을 끊임없이 注視(주시)해야만 하네
