Gohyaangyae gohyaangyae doraawaado
고향에 고향에 돌아와도 
Though having returned to my hometown,

Guureedon gohyaangwuun aaneedonyo
그리던 고향은 아니러뇨
I didn’t find the one that I have missed

Saankkongyee aaruul puumko
산꿩이 알을 품고 
A mountain pheasant broods eggs

Ppokkuughee zaechorae wuulgonmaan
뻐꾸기 제철에 울건만
And a cuckoo is calling somewhere in season,

Maawuumuun zae gohyaang zeeneezee aanko
마음은 제 고향 지니지 않고 
But my heart doesn’t belong to any hometown

Mowon haanuulo ttodonuun guuruum
머언 [하늘]*로 떠도는 구름
Just like the wandering cloud around the distant sky

Wonuuldo mae kkuutae holo woruunee
오늘도 뫼 끝에 홀로 오르니 
Climbing the tip of a mountain all alone today as well,

Heen zom kkochee yeenzongsuurae wuutko
흰 점 꽃이 인정스레 웃고
I could find a white small flower smiling at me tenderly 

Woreen sheezorae buuldon puulpeeree soree aanee naago
어린 시절에 불던 풀피리 소리 아니 나고 
I couldn’t make the sound of a grass whistle that I used to blow in my childhood, though I have tried,

Maemaaruun yeebsuurae ssuudeessuudaa
메마른 입술에 쓰디쓰다
And came to realize that the grass whistle tasted very bitter on my dry lips  

Gohyaangyae gohyaangyae doraawaado
고향에 고향에 돌아와도 
Though having returned to my hometown,

Guureedon haanuulmaanee nopuuruuguunaa
그리던 하늘만이 높푸르구나
I didn’t find the one that I have missed except the high blue sky

遠い空へ漂う雲

오늘도 뫼 끝에 홀로 오르니 
今日も山の先に一人で登ると

흰 점 꽃이 인정스레 웃고
白い点のような花が情け深く笑って

어린 시절에 불던 풀피리 소리 아니 나고 
幼い頃に吹いていた草笛の音は鳴らないで

메마른 입술에 쓰디쓰다
乾いた唇に苦々しい

고향에 고향에 돌아와도 
故郷に故郷に帰っても

그리던 하늘만이 높푸르구나
懐かしんだ空だけが高くなるな
